You pay no attorney’s fees unless Hugh Howerton first wins your case. There is no up-front payment of any kind required.
Typically personal injury attorneys take cases on a contingency fee. The standard fee is 33.33% of any recovery made before suit is filed and 40% of any recovery after suit if filed. For cases involving injuries to children, the attorney fee will be 33.33%
Hugh Howerton will pay for all case expenses during the pendency of the case. Typical case expenses would include the cost of ordering medical records and bills, police reports, filing fees, depositions fees, expert witness fees, animation production fees, day-in-the-life video production costs, records, reports, postage, copying charges, and travel expenses. Typically these case expenses are then reimbursed to the attorney, along with his attorney’s fees once the case is successfully resolved through settlement or verdict.
Once Hugh Howerton wins your case he will prepare a Settlement Disbursement Sheet showing the total settlement amount deducted for attorney’s fees, the amount deducted for any case expenses, the amount deducted for any hospital or insurance liens and the net amount that you will receive from the settlement. Hugh Howerton can also provide you a printout of all case expenses, if you wish.
