Personal Watercrafts include Sea-Doos, Wave-Runners and Jet Skis. They are very popular and fun when treated with respect. Trust me, they are fast. Since they do not have a rudder they can not stop like a car and until very recently have no brakes. Here are some safety tips:
1. ALWAYS wear a life jacket. It will save your life and those you love
2 Do not operate them under the influence of alcohol or drugs. (Do I have to say this?)
3. Do not operate them after dark. You can't see and they can't see you.
4. ALWAYS keep a lookout for other boats
5. DO NOT make sharp turns unless you have first made sure it is safe. It only takes a second but it is sure worth it.
6. DO NOT go faster than you can handle. This means drive slower than you think you need to. Your perception is always to believe you can go faster than you should
7. Go slow in no wake zones. Know what a "wake" is and what it looks like.
8. Keep at least 100 feet between you and other boats, skiers and others wave runners.
